SMITH AND WESSON MODEL 640 PRO REVOLVER, STAINLESS STEEL
This Smith and Wesson 640 Pro revolver packs a lot of stopping power in a lightweight package. Chambered for .357 Magnum and .38 Special, and weighing just 23 ounces, it's a serious carry gun. The slim synthetic grip makes concealment easier, and the stainless construction resists moisture. The enclosed hammer prevents accidental discharges from snags on clothing.

Purpose: Target Shooting
"I do like this pistol. Not as much as a 1911 model, but for a small gun, it is nice. Light, quick and easy to carry. Shoots accurately, but you buy this gun to shoot 'up close and personal', not at targets 30 feet away. Reloads quick with a Safariland Speed Loader. As far as recoil is concerned, 38 Special ammo is comfortable, 38 SPL Plus P is a little more stout, and 357 mag just hurts. My only complaint is that the hammer action seems to have just a little play in it. This does not affect my accuracy, it's just something you have to get used to. I'm satisfied with this weapon."

"Been carrying 640,38 special or 442 for the last 20+/-years. Am retired old geezer cop but carry concealled everyday. Foolishly bought the first 640 pro I saw in gun shop. It was a piece of s**t. sent it back to Smith and they agreed. They sent replacement. Great right? Not so much. Bought the original Aug 1 and still don't have a functioning gun. The replacement had to be sent back to Smith. I don't have a gun,but have a receipts for the original, 5% sales tax, $25 fee for second NCIC. Thank God for Ruger, my new gun company."
