SPRINGFIELD ARMORY NATIONAL MATCH M1A RIFLE, WALNUT STOCK
The National Match M1A is targetted at the competitive shooter, or any shooter who engages in precision shooting. The features of the National Match are designed for precision: the air-gauged barrel; the match grade recoild spring guide; the national match gas system; the precision, "earred" front sight; the hooded precision rear sight; the exceptional national match trigger; and more. All of these features meld together to make a rifle that delivers superior accuracy, time after time.
The barrel and receiver on the National Match M1A models are glass-bedded into the stock to minimze movement of the receiver or barrel due to variations in pressure on the stock, such as variations due to humidity. This is especially important with a model such as this one, which has an American walnut stock.
National Match barrels are measured with an air gauge to assure that the barrel diameter is consistent from end to end, and meets more exacting specifications than standard barrels.
The National Match M1A models also have better quality sights than standard M1A's. (See photos below). The rear sight has 1/2 MOA ("Minute Of Angle") windage and elevation adjustments, rather than the 1 MOA adjustments found on the standard rifles. The aperture on the rear sight features a hood that protects the aperture, and also keeps light from degrading the sight picture. The front sight has a .062" blade for precision aiming, and has "ears" to protect the sight blade.

Springfield Armory National Match M1A Rifle Reviews:

"I recently had a opportunity to purchase a National Match SPFD M1A and am extremely satisfied with its results. I found this M1A at my trusted local gun shop and it was used when I purchased it. I took it home and field striped it and cleaned all the parts. Shortly after that I took it to the range for a field trial. Well, as expected it worked perfectly and no malfunctions. I only used 4 rounds to zero it in at 50 meters. Im happy to have this rifle in my collection and happy its American made."

"After a number of years looking over the Springfield M1A, I finally found one I really liked and purchased it immediately. It's a National Match manunfacutured in September of 2008 and it was used. The dealer I purchased it from (trusted)indicated to me that there were very few rounds fired through it. After I got it home and "field Striped" it and cleaned it I could tell it wasn't fired a lot. I took it to the range a few days later and found that this rifle is everything I expected and more. Zeroing it on target was a breeze and it never failed. It has now joined my gun collection and I'm proud to own the M1A."

"I own several rifles , semi autos as well as bolt and lever actions , this rifle is by far my favorite . I have the M1a National Match with a Springfield counter sniper scope . Its accuracy is amazing , my AR-15 comes close , but it doesn't have the range of the M1a ( or the punch ). The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because when its fully loaded with the scope , it weighs in at around 15 lbs . , which adds to its accuracy , but makes it a beast to lug around ."

"Although this rifle is not recommended for left-handed shooters, I've fired this rifle as a lefty and it has operated flawlessly for many years. With commercial boattail ammo, loading a single round at a time, the National Match is frighteningly accurate offhand, and amazing to fire off a backpack at 200 yards."
