Springfield Armory black parkerized mil-spec 1911 pistol with 3 dot Hi-Viz military sights

The Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 pistol is an updated version of the G.I. pistol. This one has a true parkerized finish*, which is much more durable than the oxidized finish found on most black 1911 pistols. It has a spur hammer, solid trigger, and flat rather than rounded grip safety, just like the Springfield G.I. models.

The sights are military style, but have three Hi-Viz dots for faster target pick-up. The magazine well is beveled for faster reloads. The ejection port on this particular pistol has been lowered and flared for consistent ejection and reduced jams.

The reddish-color hardwood Cocobolo grips feature the Springfield Armory logo.

All of these features make the Mil-Spec 1911 a serious pistol, but a good-looking one as well. The lifetime warranty and relatively low price make it look even better.

*Parkerized finishes, unlike others, can be kept looking good by wiping them down generously with gun oil, and then letting the oil sink into the finish for an hour or so before wiping it down. This will keep your Mil-Spec 1911 looking like new.

Every Springfield Armory 1911 pistol is equipped with a trigger locking device. A key inserted into a hole in the rear grip strap positively locks the trigger, making it impossible for a child to accidentally discharge the gun. This system gives you a choice as to whether or not you need to lock your gun. Unlike trigger locks on other brands of guns, the keyhole is small, so that it doesn't ruin the looks of the gun.

"Solid. A firearm that serves a purpose. Extremely well made. Considering the cost/value you would be hard pressed to do better. If the door is kicked in my first choice is a .357 S&W model 19 (retired duty weapon) my second is this 1911. (I have several more expensive/customized but for a point and shoot situation this is an excellent weapon)."

"Uses this M1911A1 design for my first 15 years in the Army, before going to the 9mm. Our 1911s would rattle when you shook them, but they were totally dependable and I could easily qualify Expert with them--even with the laughable sights. Back then, we had what we had and we just dealt with it. For old time's sake I purchased this Springfield GI model back in 2005 or so as a companion to my M1 Garand. Functions perfectly with whatever ammo I use (mostly FMJ). Shooting and cleaning it, it just feels like an old friend. I ordered some surplus brown plastic genuine government grips off of eBay, and the 1911 looks just like those we had in the Army. Of course it doesn't have Property US Government stamped on it! Great pistol, built like a tank, lots of nostalgia, and well-worth the $$."

"I've had Springfield guns before and I think they were made better a few years ago. This one is good, but my older ones seem to have better quality. It's a good shooter though."
